Biography
for Thomas Rink
Thomas
Rink is a twenty-year veteran officer of the Tulsa Police Department whose
assignments have included Uniformed Patrol (ten years), Crime Analysis (two
years), and currently, Research and Development (eight years). In addition to being a duly sworn law
enforcement officer for the State of Oklahoma, he is also a librarian – who
earned his M.L.I.S. from the University of Oklahoma in 1992. He wears complete uniform to the office (gun
and bulletproof vest included) and schedules time to go out on patrol a couple
of times per month just to keep his officer skills current.
In
the course of his assignment to the Research and Development Unit, Thomas established
and manages the Resource Center. In
addition to his solo librarian responsibilities, he handles planning and
R&D for the department, policy development, completing special research
projects and surveys, serving on ad hoc committees, program coordinator
(Spanish-speaking Ride-along Program), and “other duties as assigned.”
Thomas
Rink has been a member of SLA since 1996 and is an active member of the
Fraternal Order of Police. His hobbies
include running; traveling (cruises are the best); playing the piano; reading
and going to movies, plays, museums, galleries, symphonies, etc.
