RE: Announcement of Great Lakes Regional Conference V

The Planning Committee of the Great Lakes Regional Conference V would like to announce that this fifth regional conference would be held September 17-19, 2003. The Sponsoring Chapter is the Western Michigan Chapter, with significant assistance from the Great Lakes regional chapters.

The theme of the conference is “Navigating the Information Rapids.” In these days of such turmoil in the information and library industry, we hope that this regional conference will provide attendees with practical tools to help them get through the “wild water” they encounter daily in their jobs.

While programming is actively being worked on, the Environmental librarians in the area, with special concerns for Great Lakes and water quality will be including programming. Since many of our chapters have significant representation from pharmaceutical interests, we will also be pursuing programming that will relate to these members.

The conference will be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, in the midst of a thriving museum and entertainment district, which should provide additional incentives for attendees.

Participating chapters in the sponsorship and planning are: Western Michigan Chapter, Michigan Chapter, Wisconsin Chapter, Illinois Chapter, Indiana Chapter, Minnesota Chapter, Central Ohio Chapter, Cleveland Chapter, and the Cincinnati Chapter
