If elected Treasurer, I will use the influence of the position and my knowledge of SLA process to focus on:

For those of you who don’t know me, I am Buzzy Basch – a practical person, not a visionary, fiscally conservative, and socially responsible.

My involvement in library societies and associations started with bar-tending in the Library Management Division suite. I became active in SLA to improve my management skills and to learn to use process.

My degrees are in business from Washington University in St. Louis, MO where I now serve on the University’s National Council. I am the owner of Basch Subscriptions, a rapidly growing international subscription agency and the Reference Shelf, a publishers’ display service.

With lots of mentoring I’ve had the opportunity to chair the Library Management Division, been elected to the SLA Board of Directors, served as Treasurer of the ITE Division and the Illinois Chapter, and chaired the Association’s Public Relations Committee. Outside of SLA, I’ve served two terms as treasurer of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, four years on the American Library Association’s finance committee and four years on the ALA Publishing Committee.

These experiences have been rewarding and energizing, and I’ve worked with a lot of wonderful people.
