Biography for N. Bernard
“Buzzy” Basch
Since settling in Concord, NH in 1994, Buzzy has had the opportunity to realize his dream of building a library subscription agency, putting into practice observations made during several decades in the industry. The experience is proving to be rewarding, interesting and, occasionally, frustrating. While necessarily responsible for all aspects of the business, it seems he is basically a numbers person at heart. Managing the financial aspects of the business has been one of the most satisfying aspects of the venture.
As a Fellow of SLA with many years of active participation at the Chapter, Division, and national levels, Buzzy believes his financial expertise can be of assistance to the Association. During six years as Treasurer of the American Society for Information Science (now ASIST) in the 1990’s he contributed to the financial turnaround of that organization and, in the late eighties, served as a member of the American Library Association’s COPES committee, advising the Board on financial management of ALA. He is also a member of the National Library Committee of Washington University in St. Louis.
