SLA Boston Member Running for Cancer

On April 19, 2004, Sandra Peters, our Boston Chapter Membership Chair, will be running in the Boston Marathon. This is Sandra's first Boston Marathon. She will be enduring the arduous 26.2 mile course from Hopkinton to Boston not just for her own sense of accomplishment, but to help raise funds for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

She's been training all winter, sometimes in sub-zero temperatures, as part of the Dana Farber Marathon Challenge Team to help in the fight against cancer. Her goal is to raise $4,000 by June 2004. All money that is raised will go directly to the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research.  

You will also be able to follow her along the course on Marathon Monday by logging on to the BAA website http://www.baa.org/BostonMarathon/ and entering in her name and bib number (not available at press time but it will be posted on her Web site: http://home.earthlink.net/~s_peters/marathon.html).
