Fall 2004 Volume 69, Number 3 Back to Table of Contents President-elect’s Column by Dee Magnoni, dianna.magnoni@olin.edu Welcome to a new year of programming for the chapter. I have a fabulous group of program planners backed by our logistics team. We met at Olin College in July to brainstorm the coming year over pizza and salad. What were the results? Check out our list below! We are in for an exciting and dynamic year, with programming covering a range of topics, geographies, and times. This is our preliminary list. As programming is fleshed out or added to, check the chapter web site at http://www.sla.org/chapter/cbos/events.htm. Look for a young professional’s program this year, as well as the development of an advanced topics seminar for senior management. Our very first program has already come and gone. Sixteen of us met in Portland, Maine, to listen to Cynthia Cheng Correia tell us about the competitive intelligence process. The seminar was so popular that we will be turning it into a full day program and building more advanced topics into future sessions. Thanks, Cynthia for sharing your expertise. The Portland location received such an enthusiastic response that we will be returning there next summer, hopefully developing Maine into an annual tradition. The group also had a Dutch treat dinner following the seminar, which was also a great success. This could be an idea to continue with future evening events. The camaraderie and idea swapping were priceless. August 19 – Competitive Intelligence in Portland, Maine.
