SLA Chapter Nominations Announced

The Boston Chapter Nominating Committee is happy to announce the following slate of candidates for the term July 2005 - December 2007: 

President-Elect  (July 2005-June 2006, and President from July 2006-December 2007)
Tom Clark, Research Librarian

Tom manages the satellite office of SunLibrary in Burlington.  In addition to these responsibilities, Tom is responsible for providing technical and engineering information services, developing end-user research tools, evaluating engineering resources and providing knowledge collaboration support to the global Sun community.

Prior to Sun, Tom worked in the information industry at LexisNexis, Johnson & Johnson, the Boston Herald and was an Information Broker at Vivamus Concepts. Tom cut his teeth in the information world of journalism as a sports reporter.

Tom received his bachelor of arts in Psychology from Tufts and his Masters in Library Science at Simmons College. Tom has held a variety of positions for the Boston Chapter, including Finance Director, Membership Chair, Awards Chair and Program committee member. At the SLA Association level, Tom is the outgoing Secretary of the IT Division and served on the 2003-4 Nominating Committee.

Tom lives in Reading, MA and is married to Joan, and enjoys living his childhood all over again with Melissa (age 8) and Adam (age 5). When not riding his bike to work or playing with his family, Tom is active in local town politics, plays basketball with people half his age and still enjoys turning the volume up.

Dave Ware was recently hired as the Access Services Librarian at the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering in Needham, MA.  A native of West Virginia, he moved to the Boston area in 1997.  He earned his MSLIS from Simmons College last summer, and has previously worked at the Harvard Design School Library, the Harvard University Archives, and the West Virginia and Regional History Collection in Morgantown, WV.  Dave lives in Roslindale, and has also served the Boston Chapter as Webmaster since 2001.

Please note that additional names may be placed in nomination, if ten Boston Chapter members petition the Nominating Committee within fifteen days of the announcement of the slate of candidates, and upon written consent of the candidates.  Petitions can be sent to any member of the Nominating Committee and must be received no later than April 25, 2005.
