Boston SLA Celebrates Groundhog Day!
by Katrina Reiling, Katrina.Reiling@parexel.com

About 40 SLA members attended the Boston Chapter's First Annual Groundhog Day Party, February 2, 2005, held at the Holiday Inn in Newton.

In an attempt to help attendees break through the winter blues, program organizers Barbra Rosenberg, Sidney McNab, and Katrina Reiling provided a Boston SLA/Groundhog’s Day trivia contest, Groundhog Day murals, great jazz music by the Greg Hopkins Quintet, and winter and spring-themed food.  This created an excellent environment to network while also having fun!

Trivia contest prizes included a plush stuffed Punxsutawney Phil, a DVD of movie "Groundhog Day,” and a coupon for free registration to a future Boston Chapter event.  (Answers were posted around the room to encourage mingling). Former SLA President Cindy Hill graciously selected the contest winners from all of the entries.  Five early registration attendees who correctly guessed Punxsutawney Phil would see his shadow, and therefore, predict six additional weeks of winter, were awarded chocolate groundhog lollipops.

Many, many thanks go to our wonderful Logistics Committee staff: Kris Liberman, Deborah Garson, and  Linda Schuller Wolf, who shared in the spirit of the evening by wearing top hats similar to those worn by Punxsutawney Phil's Inner Circle, while registering attendees in front of a mural of the groundhog's underground burrow.

The evening was considered a success by all and several requests have been made to hold this event on an annual basis!   If you weren't able to make it, check out Walt Howe's photos to see what you missed and test your SLA/Groundhog knowledge with the trivia quiz below.
