has accepted a new position as Senior Information Manager at The MITRE
Corporation in Bedford. MITRE is a not-for-profit company that provides systems
engineering, research and development, and information technology expertise to
the government. She was previously with Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc., in
Cambridge. Alex Caracuzzo is now Associate Head Librarian at MIT's Dewey Library for Management and Social Sciences. Alex was formerly Information Analyst at Fidelity Investments Institutional Services in Smithfield, RI. Ralph D'Angelo (of Bain & Company) married Jessica Peroni on October 15th, 2005, in Malden, MA. They honeymooned in the Mexican Riviera. Betty
Edwards has moved into a
newly-created position within law firm Seyfarth Shaw LLP as National Manager of
Business Development Research and will be reporting directly to the firm's
Marketing Department in Chicago. Betty will continue to be based in Boston. Betty
was also recently a finalist for Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly "Unsung
Heroes of the Bar Award - Law Librarian of the Year." Kirstie Gaudes (of Bain & Company) recently married Seth Rockwell in New Hampshire on October 29th, 2005. They traveled to Hawaii for their honeymoon. Margaret Howe-Soper recently accepted the position as Director of the South Hadley Public Library. She notes, “it is interesting to be back in town government and I'm really enjoying the contact with the community and patrons. The learning curve is steep, but I love every minute of it. I've joined MLA (MA Library Association) and plan to continue with both SLA and the Simmons GSLIS Alumni Board for the coming year.” Her new work email is msoper@cwmars.org. April Moore was married on October 1, 2005, in East Providence, RI and subsequently offered a promotion at her firm to become the library manager. She is now the Law Librarian at Seyfarth Shaw LLP. She had been interning there while working on her MLIS, which she completed at the University of Rhode Island in December 2004. Betty Edwards and Tony Stankus were her friends and mentors in achieving this promotion. Bob Moore, our current SLA Boston Chapter discussion list manager, is also a published author. He has written a book called “The Stone House Diaries,” which reflects on the history of Niagra Falls through the eyes of several generations. On Oct. 18 she spoke at a meeting of the Fairfield County Chapter of SLA in
