HBS Event

Eager to see the newly renovated Baker Library, at Harvard Business School, more
than 70 people gathered on March 21st to tour the library and learn about the
Baker staff's latest innovations.
The event included the following presentations: Baker Library Executive
Director, Mary Lee Kennedy, speaking on the physical and organizational changes
undertaken; Business Information Taxonomist, Carol Ellerbeck, presented Baker's
Taxonomy Project; Carla Tishler, Director of Information Product Management,
talked about the drive to make the library's electronic resources more
accessible; and Karen Bailey, Outreach Program Lead, led the audience through a
few of the Historical Collections' online offerings. If you missed the
presentations, you may view the PowerPoint slides for each at http://www.sla.org/chapter/cbos/meetings/fy06/bakerlibrary.html#ppt.
During the reception, held in Baker Library's newly refurbished ground floor,
attendees enjoyed hors d'ouevres, the Historical Collections, and Bloomberg
demonstrations. Shireen Naderi and John Kirk from Bloomberg, the event
sponsor, were on hand throughout the evening to answer questions and show off
their product. The Baker Library staff, organized by Danielle Barney, gave tours
to more than 50 attendees.
Many thanks to Liz Bibby, Ann Cullen, and the Baker Library staff for a great
evening, and to Elizabeth O'Meara and Judy Blaine, who kept the registration
table running without a hitch.
