Negotiating Your Best Package In a Tight Economy

Most people feel awkward about negotiating salary for themselves. Even people whose job includes negotiating on behalf of their firms or organizations admit difficulty when it comes to negotiating for their own salaries. Nan Siemer will talk about what you need to do before you negotiate, while you are negotiating and what to do after you negotiate. She will share some of the most effective negotiating techniques that her clients have used on their own job searches. She will also address critical mistakes to avoid when negotiating.

Her presentation will include how to negotiate for compensation, and also how to negotiate for perks, benefits, authority and resources you need to get the job done. Additionally, she will talk about negotiating contracts and suggest an alternative to contracts that can be more important to you.

Nan's presentations are fun, informative and interactive. Key points to be covered:

  • Two key things to do before you negotiate.
  • Seven techniques to negotiate the best package for yourself.
  • 20 things you can negotiate for besides money.
  • When to talk about money—and when not to.
  • The most effective negotiating strategies to use in a job search.
  • Should you ask for a contract or not?
  • What to do if the company wants you to sign a contract.
