Upcoming Events:

Tuesday, December 9: SLA-SF’s Annual Holiday Party and Year-End Celebration. 5:30-8 p.m. at LeCharm French Bistro, 315 5th Street (at Folsom), San Francisco. $10 per person includes appetizers, a chance to catch up with your fellow librarians and wish them happy holidays, and presentation of the new Vendor Appreciation Award.
Registration must be completed online using PayPal (account not required) or a check must arrive by Monday, December 1. For more information or a mail-in registration form, see this document in PDF or Word format.

Non-Chapter Events of Interest:

San Jose State University’s School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) Colloquia: Fall 2008 Series Anyone is invited to attended this Colloquium Series that features SLIS faculty and invited guests as they address the challenges and promises of our rapidly changing profession. Presentations are free, wheelchair-accessible and open to the public. More information about this presentation can be found on the Colloquia: Fall 2008 web page. SLIS videotapes each presentation for those who are unable to attend them live. Links to an Internet webcast (streaming video), an RSS feed, and an iTunes Portal podcast (usually in both audio and video versions) will be posted to the Colloquia: Fall 2008 web page about a week after each event. Upcoming speakers include:
Wednesday, November 19: Rick Moss, of the African American Museum & Library at Oakland, will speak on “A Blending of Cultures: Museum Practice and Library Imperatives” from noon to 1 p.m. in Clark Hall 304, on the San Jose State University campus.
