Call for 2000 Conference Papers INDEPENDENCE TO INTERDEPENDENCE: THE NEXT PHASE IN THE INFORMATION REVOLUTION Information professionals from around the world will be gathering in the new century in Philadelphia to explore the next phase in the information revolution. The speed at which information can be delivered and exchanged is unprecedented. Our professional challenge is to be part of the revolution and to demonstrate how our unique skills are well suited to work interdependently within our organizations. Philadelphia is the perfect setting for the Special Libraries Association Conference in 2000. The City is a leader in technology today as it was a leader in the Revolution in 1775. You are invited to submit papers addressing the theme: "Independence to Interdependence: The Next Phase in the Information Revolution" for the Special Libraries' Association's 91st Conference in Philadelphia. The conference will have five general tracks that you may want to consider when developing a proposal: Advocacy for the Profession; Information Management; Management; Professional Development; Technology. GUIDELINES August 1, 1999 - Submit a working title of proposed contributed paper to Linda Morgan Davis (additional person??) via either e-mail (LMORGAN@LRRI.ORG) or fax to 505/262-7897. September 1, 1999 - Deadline for receipt of an abstract of the proposed contributed paper. Abstracts should be approximately 250-300 words in length. Please provide 5 paper copies of your abstract and submit them to Linda Morgan Davis, Lovelace Medical Library, 5400 Gibson Blvd., SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. Diskettes, faxes and electronic submissions will not be accepted. April 1, 2000 - Deadline for the submission of the complete text of the accepted contributed paper to the Association Office in Washington, D.C. Length - Presentation of the paper should be no longer than 15 minutes. Acceptance - Contributed papers will be accepted only if: 1.) the abstract has been submitted and evaluated, 2.) the author is a member of SLA and 3.) the author intends to present the paper at the Annual Conference. Abstracts will be judged on relevance to the theme, substance, and potential member interest. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by December 15, 1999.
