SLA is also pleased to announce that at each of these three events, Association-wide
awards will be presented to outstanding individuals, who, through hard
work and dedication, have made remarkable contributions to the Association
as well as the profession. Please mark your conference calendar and make

Here is your chance to tune in to a very special interview! Conference attendees will be in for a treat this year. A unique keynote address will feature Terry Gross of NPR interviewing David Talbot, Founder, Editor, CEO, SALON magazine. Terry Gross is the host of Fresh Air, a daily afternoon NPR program that features interviews of some of the most prominent figures of our time. Attendees will also have the opportunity to honor the following award winners:

Make your plans to attend the SLA Annual Business Meeting. This is your opportunity to experience your Association in action. Susan DiMattia, SLA's current president, will preside over the session. You'll hear the State of the Association address from David R. Bender, Ph.D., executive director of SLA, and watch a great new video presentation. Newly elected members of the Board of Directors will be installed and Donna Scheeder will deliver her inaugural address. SLA Closing Gala - "A Celebration of Time" - Wednesday, June 14, 6:00 PM - The Crystal Tea Room
Philadelphia is a place where past, present, and future converge. The city is rooted in the past but aiming for the future, as is the information profession. In this new millennium, it is only fitting that we come together to celebrate time in a venue steeped in timeless elegance. The Crystal Tea Room is a beautiful downtown landmark and historical host to many dazzling events of yesterday. The Crystal Tea Room is located in the famous John Wanamaker Building, 100 Penn Sq., a block from the Philadelphia Marriott. Attend the Gala and be part of the events for this year. Attendees will enjoy the elegance of the hall, camaraderie of friends, a full course banquet, and dancing to a well known local band. This will be an evening that all will want to attend! Join us as we honor contributors to the Association and celebrate the future of the Association. SLA is pleased to announce that the following award winners will be honored:

Please note that the SLA Closing Gala is a ticketed event. The ticket number is: # 625 and the cost is $89.00. Please use your conference registration form to purchase your advance tickets. Additional tickets will be available on site in Philadelphia at the SLA registration desk.
