Present a Contributed Paper
SLA is now accepting proposals for contributed papers to be presented at the 2012 Annual Conference in Chicago.
Contributed papers allow you to showcase your research into, and share your solutions to, challenges facing the information industry. By submitting a paper proposal, you demonstrate your dedication to your profession and your desire to help your colleagues benefit from your knowledge and experience.
Topics for contributed papers must relate to the 2012 conference theme, Practicing Agility in an Open World Economy. Papers should focus on putting ideas into practice and should address issues pertaining to information science or management, client services, administration, and/or technology in special libraries.
Proposal Requirements
Proposals will be judged on their relevance to the conference theme. Reviewers will be looking for novelty, creativity, scholarship, and applicability to the audience (as defined by the author).
Paper proposals must also meet these requirements:
- At least one author must be a member of SLA.
- At least one author must commit to presenting the paper at the SLA 2012 Annual Conference.
- The proposal must be received by 12 December 2011. (See below for more information.)
- The paper must not have been published in, or submitted to, any other conference planning group or to any publication.
- The author (and any co-authors) must be willing to sign a copyright assignment form that will permit SLA to use the paper in various formats.
Deadlines
Proposals: 12 December 2011. Submit an abstract of your paper to Helen Losch at helenlosch@gmailcom. Abstracts should be 250-300 words in length, or roughly one page in 12-point type. As part of your proposal, please identify the core audience for your paper (e.g., academic, Web, government).
