IMPORTANT NOTE: Please complete all of the questions below; incomplete proposals will not be included in the course offering pool. Submitted proposal documentation will not be returned. Proposals must be not more than 4 single-sided pages in length, should use at least a 12 point font and a ¾" margin on all sides, and must be written in English.

PART II: COURSE DESCRIPTION

Division Sponsored - Provide a thorough and accurate explanation of how your proposed course fits in with your Division's scope note. Be as specific as possible describing how the course's key objectives connect with the interests of your Division's membership.

Association Sponsored - Provide a thorough and accurate explanation of how your proposed course complements the Association's mission or core values. Be as specific as possible describing how the courses key objectives connect with the interests of the membership overall.

Course Description- Provide a clearly articulated 75 word description of your proposed course for publication in the conference program and on the web. If your course is accepted, SLA reserves the right to edit the description.

Course Level - Select one of the following

  • ____Fundamental - Basic concepts for those new to the topic or application 
  • ____Intermediate - Concepts beyond the scope of fundamentals for practitioners at all experience levels 
  • ____Advanced - New, experimental or complex concepts for experienced practitioners

SLA Competencies - Identify one to three competencies from SLA's Competencies for Special Librarians of the 21st Century to which your course connects and describes how your course will enable the attendees learning and professional growth for each competency.

Course Content

Syllabus - Provide a detailed outline of the topics to be covered in the order presented

Intended Audience and Prerequisite - Describe your target audience. Provide specific examples of who should attend. Include a list of all prerequisite skills they may require in order to successfully benefit from the course.

Key Take-Aways - Identify the three-five core ideas, concepts, or skills that the course attendees will learn from this course

Teaching Approaches - Describe the teaching approaches that will be used to facilitate the delivery of the content, e.g. group discussion, simulation, case studies, lecture, etc.

Why Is This Course Worth Offering? - Please respond to at least two of the following questions

  • How does your topic address leading edge and forwarding thinking issues?
