International Special Librarians Day will be observed on April 22, 2004.
The Special Libraries Association established ISLD in 1991.
ISLD is traditionally held on the Thursday of National Library Week.
ISLD recognizes the unique contributions made by information professionals around the world and the critical role they play in the changing global information community.
ISLD encourages information professionals to promote the services they provide to their users, customers, and management within their organizations and to external communities.
The theme for ISLD 2004, "Creating Information Currency" reflects the global contributions of the information community and the value attached to their critical skills to acquire knowledge for their organizations.
International Special Librarians Day is sponsored by Factiva (a Dow Jones Reuters Company), and SLA.
