Praveen Kumar "P.K." Jain
P.K. Jain, with 21 years of experience in the field of library and information science, has been an SLA member since 2000 and works currently as deputy librarian with the Institute of Economic Growth, University of Delhi, India. Jain is a past president of the SLA Asian Chapter (2002-2004) and presently holds the position of co-secretary for the year 2007-08. He was a member of the Organizing Committee for the very first SLA Asian Chapter meeting held in December 2005 in New Delhi, and is the organizing secretary for the International Conference of Asian Special Libraries being held in Delhi, 26-28 November, 2008. Jain has expanded the chapter's Web site and developed a regular newsletter for the chapter. His marketing of SLA and continued arrangement of SLA representation at library conferences in Asia has resulted in a more vibrant Asian Chapter, with a larger membership and more widespread recognition for SLA in the region.
Lynne McCay
Lynne McCay, an SLA member since 1980, has been active both in the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the association as well as the Social Science Division, the Leadership and Management Division, the Information Technology Division and the News Division. In choosing McCay for the award, the 2008 Awards Committee cited her extraordinary commitment of time, her perseverance in completing projects, and her dedication to the association, the profession and her colleagues. McCay has served in many leadership positions including director and secretary on the SLA Board of Directors, as Washington, D.C. Chapter president, and as chair of the association's Government Relations Committee. McCay chaired the SLA Program Planners Committee for the SLA Annual Conference in Philadelphia in 2000, producing a well-respected conference. She then offered significant, timely and critical assistance to the program planners for the 2007 Annual Conference in Denver. She is currently a member of the SLA Centennial Commission and is working to plan another SLA Annual Conference in 2009. Because of McCay's contributions, year after year, SLA has seen improvements to conference programming and execution.
