I. Policy

It is the policy of the Special Libraries Association to use American Express Miles/Points for authorized business of the Association only.

II. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance on appropriate uses for Miles/Points earned on corporate American Express Cards.

III. Practice/Procedure

1. All points earned on corporate American Express cards are the property of the Association and not the individual card holder.
2. Points may be used to purchase airfare/hotel/rental cars for staff and key volunteer leaders for travel related to association business only.
3. Points may used to upgrade flights to business class or first class accommodation for flights of four (4) hours in length or longer.
4. Points may also be used to purchase incentives for staff and/or volunteer leaders during times when funding may not be available for such purposes.

IV. Responsibility

The Treasurer, with the assistance of the Executive Director, shall be responsible for administration of this policy.
