SLA POLICY ON REPRINT PERMISSION

I. Practice

It is the practice of the Special Libraries Association to reserve the right to reprint or not-to reprint any of its publications or any part thereof for any reason whatsoever.

II. Purpose

Articles and/or materials which appear in SLA publications have additional value and marketability to both the Association and other publishers within the library/information community. It is the purpose of this policy to establish procedures to be followed in granting permission to reprint or denying permission to reprint.

III. Practice/Procedure
  1. Special Libraries Association reserves the right to refuse permission to reprint any of its publications or any part thereof for any reason whatsoever.

  2. Special Libraries Association will charge a minimum fee of $50.00 for one-time right to reprint any one article from its publication.

  3. Special Libraries Association reserves the right to waive or increase any fees for permission at the Association's discretion.

  4. No profit is earned by Special Libraries Association in publishing articles in Information Outlook. Since publishers who request such permission expect to sell at a profit, Special Libraries Association, which had originally borne the cost of editing and publishing the article without recompense, should receive some return from commercial reprints.

IV. Responsibility

The Executive Director, as publisher, is responsible for the administration of this policy, with cooperation from the publications staff.
