SLA UNIT FUND DEVELOPMENT PRACTICE
It is the policy of the Special Libraries Association for units to provide charitable contribution acknowledgment letters and receipts to individual and organizational donors for all checks, cash, and credit card gifts of $75 or greater.
It is the policy of the Special Libraries Association for units to provide charitable contribution acknowledgment letters and receipts to individual and organizational donors for all in-kind gifts of $250 or greater.
It is the policy of the Special Libraries Association for units to provide copies of charitable contribution acknowledgment letters and receipts to headquarters for all contributions in excess of $5,000 (check, cash, credit card, and in-kind) on an ongoing basis.
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the Association protects its tax-exempt status and maintains sound reporting practices in accordance with the Internal Revenue Service, and other regulatory authorities.
A. The SLA Unit Fund Development Policy will remain an active document, reviewed by the appropriate staff on an annual basis.
B. Significant changes in the procedures will be reported to the Finance Committee and to the Association's independent accounting firm.
The Senior Director, Development and Member Relations is responsible for maintaining the SLA Unit Fund Development Policy.
