2005/06 Board Candidate Carol L. Ginsburg


 

Carol Ginsburg is currently a principal in CLG Consulting, a firm that advises on benchmarking, desktop content and organizational management. In 2002 Carol retired from Deutsche Bank (formerly Bankers Trust) as a Managing Director and Global Head of Business Information Services and where she worked for over 20 years. During her tenure at the company she created an internationally respected global network of information professionals and was a pioneer in the arena of corporate global enterprise-wide licensing and utilizing technologies for enhanced client service.

Carol has actively served in SLA from her first year of membership in 1982. Her activities include: President of the New York Chapter, Chair of the Business and Finance Division, Chair of the Professional Development Committee, Chair of the Task Force on Branding and Chair of the Nominating Committee. She also served on the Finance Committee, Public Relations Committee, Strategic Planning Committee and has had other roles in Chapter and Division units.

Carol has taught courses in management of special libraries, business information sources and management of libraries for both Queens College of City University of New York and the Palmer School of Long Island University. She has been a frequent speaker at SLA Conferences, Chapter Meetings and other international information conferences, including EBIC. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of Queens College Graduate School of Library and Information Science.

Carol has received many awards recognizing her outstanding contribution to the profession and her knowledge and expertise as an influential leader and decision maker. These awards include: The SLA President’s Award, The Factiva Award for Leadership and The SLA Public Relations Award. She became a Fellow of the Association in 1995 and in 2005 was presented the Hall of Fame Award.

Carol and her husband Steven live in New York City where they enjoy theatre and museums. Carol also enjoys shopping and has acquired quite a reputation for finding the best places to shop at SLA conferences! She looks forward to serving the SLA community for many years to come.
