2005/06 Board Candidate LaJean Humphries

LaJean Humphries, Library Manager for Schwabe Williamson & Wyatt, is responsible for administration of library services for the firm's offices throughout the Pacific Northwest. Since joining Schwabe in 1991, LaJean has developed an online library catalog, and has been instrumental in the creation, maintenance, and development of a firmwide intranet. She regularly presents CLE and training classes for attorney and staff on Internet and legal research.

LaJean received her B.A. from Boise State University and M.L.S. from San Jose State University. She has experience working in academic, public, law, and school libraries, as well as a thirteen-year stint in social work.

LaJean was the 2005 recipient of the Oregon SLA (ORSLA) Chapter's Kathy Greey Memorial Award, given annually to a member who exemplifies dedication, service to the chapter, and mentorship to others. She has served as ORSLA President and was Professional Development Team leader for five years. She is a member of the Legal Division.

LaJean is also an active member of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), has served on the Law Librarians of Puget Sound Futures Committee (2004-2005) and the Online Bibliographic Services SIS Strategic Planning Committee (2005). LaJean has written articles for www.llrx.com, Searcher, and is a contributing author to Web of Deception - Misinformation on the Internet published by Information Today (2002). She is a frequent program presenter.

LaJean and her husband reside in Portland, Oregon, where they enjoy the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and amenities of the city.
