2005/06 Board Candidate Libby Trudell


As Sr. Vice President of Information Professional Development at Dialog, Libby Trudell heads a global team responsible for programs such as Quantum2, the customer advisory board and outreach to MLIS students. A member of the executive team, she serves as the liaison to SLA and other information professional associations, provides insight on customer needs, and is involved in corporate initiatives such as the knowledge sharing council. Previous management roles at Dialog include marketing, customer services, product development and strategic planning

Earlier in her career, Libby worked in several library consortia, helping members implement services such as OCLC, RLIN and electronic mail. She authored a report on needs for a regional interlibrary loan system, served on the editorial board for Library Information Technology Association journal, and co-authored the book Options for Electronic Mail. Her B.A in music is from Tufts University and her M.L.S. from Simmons.

Libby has held many positions in SLA San Andreas chapter including Program Director, Membership Chair, President, and various committee chairs. A member of the Information Technology Division and Leadership& Management Division, she has chaired the IT Division’s Strategic Planning Committee, Virtual Section, and Communications Section. Other recent SLA activities include the SLA Nominating Committee, Funding Model Task Force and the Corporate Partners Council.

Libby lives with her husband Dennis (himself an M.L.S. from University of Toronto), their son Nick, and their cat Wendell, in Los Altos, CA. She enjoys singing with the Stanford symphonic choir, hiking in the many local parks, and cultivating the garden.
