

Deb Hunt is Senior Information Specialist at the Exploratorium, an interactive museum in San Francisco. Her responsibilities include developing and maintaining the Exploratorium Educate website and community building in the formal and informal education communities worldwide. Deb co-chairs a major internal information infrastructure initiative, implementing knowledge management services to improve staff access to internal and external sources of information.
Deb is also an independent information professional and Principal of Information Edge, which specializes in cutting edge research, library creation and automation, and website evaluation. She is active in the Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP), and served on the Board of Directors from 2001-2003.
Deb participates in the community, teaching in a library paraprofessional program at a local community college and has also taught for InfoPeople and UC Berkeley Extension. She has presented at many conferences including SLA, CENIC (Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California), the California Library Association, Internet@Schools, and Internet Librarian. Deb is a past president of BayNet (Bay Area Library and Information Network), a multi-type library association fostering cooperative activities between libraries.
Since joining SLA in 1986, Deb has been a leader in the San Francisco chapter, serving as Chapter President, initiating the first chapter listserv in 2000 and chairing various committees. She received the Chapter's Professional Achievement Award in 2002. Deb was featured in the SLA Member Profile in the July 2006 issue of Information Outlook("As Easy as Jumping Off a Cliff") on pages 10-12. She is a member of the Knowledge Management, Information Technology, and Leadership and Management Divisions.
Before joining the Exploratorium in 1995, Deb worked in a number of different library types, including academic, special and medical. She received her MLS degree from UC Berkeley.
Deb and her husband, Dave, live in San Leandro, California and have 4 grown children and a rescue dog, Serendipity, whom they accompany to the dog park regularly.
