Ty Webb is a consultant and project manager with InfoWebb. Her most recent projects have used her LIS skills to help organizations achieve better customer satisfaction through improved communication. Before relocating to Denver, Ty was the Manager of Strategic Information and Principal Librarian for a biotech company in San Diego. Her department specialized in tailoring new technologies and information products to fit the needs of the company. Following a three-company corporate merger, she developed and implemented global services, integrating the services of six site libraries without reducing staff. Ty received the company's Quality Management Award twice.
Earlier in her career, Ty launched InfoWebb, providing training and research services, and establishing new libraries. Her first special library role was as the Supervisor of Bayer's AgChem Division Library. She spent her undergraduate days at Mount Union College and her graduate nights at the University of Missouri. She also completed web site development courses at Stanford.
Ty has been active in SLA throughout her career. She is the Co-Chair for SLA's 2007 Conference Committee and was President of the Rocky Mountain Chapter (2005-2006) while RMSLA held 19 events, granted 5 scholarships, instituted a sponsorship program, replaced the newsletter with a blog, introduced a new chapter logo, and arranged to host the Denver conference. Since moving to Denver in 2002, Ty has also served RMSLA as President-Elect and Director.
At the Division level, Ty was Chair of the IT Division (2003-2004), served concurrently as the Secretary and Chair-elect (2001-2003), served twice as Chair of a section, and now chairs the PR Committee. The division presented her with their Outstanding Member Award in 2006, primarily for mentoring future division leaders.
Ty has been the President of two additional SLA chapters (San Diego and Heart of America), the Chair of two association committees and a member of others. She has served on several Task Forces and held other positions at both the chapter and association level. For several years, Ty represented specialized libraries on the state-wide Task Force for the Library of California, and she holds positions in local community organizations.
Ty enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering, skiing, traveling, and reading. SLA has been an important part of her success and she hopes very much to have this opportunity to give back to the association by serving as a Director.
