Holly Chong-Williams has been a Division Chief in the Scientific and Technical Information Center of the US Patent Trademark Office (USPTO) since July 2007. As Chief of the Search and Automation Support Division, Holly works with other departments within the USPTO to manage training needs and oversees a training staff of over 50 people. Prior to joining the USPTO, she worked as a Manager for Patent Offices and Specialty Accounts for Thomson Scientific/Dialog. During her ten years at Thomson Scientific/Dialog, Holly played a leadership role in the development and delivery of corporate products and training to her customers. Prior to Thomson Scientific/Dialog, Holly has also worked for NTIS, Questel-Orbit, Cambridge Scientific, Derwent and IBM.
Holly is an active SLA member. Some of the positions she has served include: Group Chair for the DCSLA Information Technology Group; Government Information Section Chair, Membership Chair, Treasurer and Chair for the Information Technology Division. Currently she is the Seattle Program Planner for the Information Technology Division. In addition to SLA, Holly was also on the NFAIS Newsletter Editorial Board and is a member of the PIUG (Patent Information Users Group).
Holly has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia and a Masters Degree from the University of Hawaii.
