The time has come for us to make history! For the first time in SLA?s 96 years of existence, we will vote on the Association?s business via the services of a new online balloting system. I am extremely pleased to invite you to access your ballot immediately, continuing until 5:00 PM EDT (2100 GMT) on Friday, 7 October 2005.

By now, I hope you have had an opportunity to review the proposed amendment to the SLA Bylaws that we are considering. This proposal restructures our dues schedule and enables SLA to continue investing in you and your fellow members. For complete information, visit the SLA Bylaws Information Center at www.sla.org/bylaws.

By clicking on the link to the SLA eVote system (below), you?ll begin the process for casting your electronic ballot. It is a very intuitive system that not only provides full information; it also allows you to review your vote prior to submitting your ballot and receiving confirmation. It is a safe and secure system that protects the privacy of your vote, and records the outcome quickly and accurately.

If you have requested a print ballot from SLA by post, you should expect to receive it in the coming days. However, you still have the option of simply voting electronically. Online votes will be matched against print ballots to ensure that duplicate votes are removed from the vote tally.

All print ballots must be returned postmarked by 7 October 2005.

If you would like to request a print ballot or have any questions regarding this message, your online ballot, or the details on the proposed amendment, telephone the Bylaws Information Center Hotline on +1.703.647.4950, or email bylaws@sla.org. INSTRUCTIONS FOR VOTING

1. Go to the SLA eVote System at http://www.sla.org/evote2005
2. Log into the system using your SLA User ID and PIN, shown below
3. Click on the ballot name ? ?SLA Bylaws Amendment ? 9/15/05?
4. Review the proposed amendments to the SLA Bylaws
5. At the bottom of the page, click on the ?Click to Continue? button
6. Review the question (gray background), then select ?Yes? or ?No?
7. Click the ?Click to Continue? button
8. Review your selection, then click the ?Vote? button
9. You?ve now completed the voting process! Congratulations!
10. You can view and print your receipt or exit the eVote System

Legal Notice - This action has been submitted to voting members of SLA for approval by written consent. In accordance with SLA?s Certificate of Incorporation and Bylaws, any action which may be taken at a meeting of voting members may be taken without a meeting if the action is approved in writing by voting members holding a majority of the voting power of the members voting on such action, presuming the number of votes approving such action is equal to at least a quorum. If you elect to cast your vote online, you hereby agree that taking such action, voting either for or against the proposed amendment, shall constitute signing a written consent of members.
