Dow Jones, LexisNexis and Thomson Scientific & Dialog
Sponsor 2007 SLA Leadership Summit

Alexandria, Virginia, USA, 18 January 2007-- The Special Libraries Association (SLA) announces Dow Jones - in concert with its Factiva product suite, LexisNexis, and Thomson Scientific & Dialog as its Major Partners for the SLA Leadership Summit in Reno Nevada, USA, 24-27 January.

This unique leadership development program offers attendees the opportunity to develop leadership skills which apply to their careers and their work within the Association. The SLA Leadership Summit is a chance for information professionals to engage in group learning and skill-building exercises designed to push attendee's thinking and improve leadership and management skills.

"Dow Jones, LexisNexis, and Thomson Scientific & Dialog continually demonstrate their support of SLA and information professionals by underwriting important meetings such as this Leadership Summit," said SLA Chief Executive Officer Janice R. Lachance. "Through their generous support of SLA, our members are given access to more exceptional programs and speakers that get better each year. We appreciate each of them and value their contributions to this Summit and to the future of the profession."

As the Gold Sponsor, Dow Jones continues Factiva's tradition of support to SLA, by sponsoring the Keynote Address from Chip Heath, the co-author of a book titled Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die. Heath is a Professor of Organizational Behavior in the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. His research examines why certain ideas-- ranging from urban legends to folk medical cures, from "Chicken Soup for the Soul" stories to business strategy myths-- survive and prosper in the social marketplace of ideas. Dow Jones' sponsorship also supports other events at the SLA Leadership Summit, including the Board of Directors meeting coffee breaks and Summit Luncheon

As the Silver Sponsors, LexisNexis, and Thomson Scientific & Dialog are supporting the Leadership Breakfasts.

Other events during the Summit include the leadership reception and a second keynote presentation by Ken Haycock, Director of The School or Library and Information Science at San Jose State University, who will speak at the general session on Friday. Haycock's presentation, "Leadership and You: Tackling the Dragon," will demonstrate how involvement in SLA can lead to career success and allow one to be a more effective leader in professional scenarios.

Registration for the SLA Leadership Summit is open to all SLA members interested in honing their leadership skills in a low-risk environment. More details on the speakers and events are available online here: http://www.sla.org/content/resources/leadcenter/LeadershipSummit/07leadsummit/index.cfm.
