Dow Jones & Company Announced as "Gold Sponsor" for 2008 SLA Leadership Summit in Louisville, Kentucky
Thomson Scientific Continues Support with Silver Sponsorship
Alexandria, Virginia, 15 January 2008 -- Dow Jones & Company has been named the Gold Sponsor and Thomson Scientific the Silver Sponsor of the SLA Leadership Summit in Louisville, Kentucky, 23-26 January, the Special Libraries Association (SLA) announced today. Additionally, IEEE, ProQuest and EOS International will serve as supporting sponsors of the meeting.
The unique two-day leadership development program offers attendees the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills which apply to their careers and to their work within the association. The SLA Leadership Summit is an opportunity for information professionals to engage in group learning and skill-building exercises designed to push attendee's thinking and improve their leadership and management skills.

As the 2008 Gold Sponsor, Dow Jones is supporting the Keynote Address of Andy Hines, managing partner of the consulting practice Social Technologies. Prior to joining Social Technologies, Hines was a partner with a think tank and consulting firm that specialized in the study of the future. He believes that foresight can help deliver the insight needed in organizations like SLA. In this pursuit, he co-founded and is currently vice-chair of the Association of Professional Futurists, co-authored three books -- Thinking About the Future: Guidelines for Strategic Foresight (Social Technologies 2007), 2025: Science and Technology Reshapes US and Global Society (Oak Hill, 1997) and Managing Your Future as an Association (ASAE, 1994). Hines is currently collaborating with a team of research and communications consultants that will make recommendations about the future of SLA and the information profession later in the year.
