Seattle, WA 17 June 2008 - The Special Libraries Association (SLA) opened its 99th Annual Conference in Seattle on 15 June, with significant corporate support from many organizations in the information industry. This year, Dow Jones, LexisNexis, and Springer serve as Major Conference Partners for what is widely considered the largest knowledge and information management event in North America.

"The commitment to these ongoing partnerships with SLA reflects the dedication our sponsors have to advancing the information profession and the work of our members," said SLA Chief Executive Officer Janice R. Lachance. "Our colleagues at Dow Jones, LexisNexis, and Springer have participated in our annual conference as supportive sponsors year after year, and I want to thank them for their continued dedication. It is with their support that SLA is able to offer better programs each year."

The Major Conference Partners have pledged support for a variety of specific events, meetings, services and activities for SLA members to enjoy. All three companies have also contributed to the SLA President's Circle.

Dow Jones' strong involvement and commitment to SLA continues this year with their sponsorship of the Closing General Session, featuring Seth Godin, well known marketing guru and author of Meatball Sundae. Dow Jones also develops the content and provides speakers for the sellout SLA TechZone sessions and support the SLA Division Cabinet meeting. Their support of the Dow Jones Leadership Award since its inception has highlighted information professionals' commitment to developing competencies for career growth.

LexisNexis is supporting numerous programs, most notably the Opening General Session featuring a keynote presentation from Charlie Rose and Google's Vint Cerf. Their sponsorship supports the SLA Hot Topic Session The Globalization of Information, the SLA Board of Directors meetings, and the SLA Leadership Development Institute. LexisNexis is also the sponsor of the CE Session, Training from the Trenches: Tips, Tools and Techniques for Every Budget.

Springer's commitment extends a warm welcome to attendees via its sponsorship of the First Time Attendee Reception, as well as sponsorship of all the water stations outside of the workshops and sessions. Springer also continues their support of the SLA Professional Award in 2008 as well as the SLA Hot Topic Session, The Promise of 2.0.
