SLA SELECTS DE CAGNA AS MANAGING DIRECTOR OF STRATEGIC LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
Washington, D.C., December 13, 1999 -- Jeff De Cagna has been selected to serve as managing director for strategic learning and development for the Special Libraries Association (SLA). De Cagna will be responsible for developing and directing SLA's continuing education courses and professional learning activities at the Association level, the regional level, and in conjunction with other organizations.
De Cagna has an extensive background in strategic learning and development. Prior to joining SLA, he served as director of learning and knowledge initiatives at the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives (GWSAE). During his tenure, he developed new nonprogrammatic learning initiatives that helped association professionals and their organizations develop new learning capabilities for the entire association community. He also served in similar capacities for MCI WorldCom, Fast Company, and Executive Knowledge Works as a consultant. De Cagna is a graduate of The John Hopkins University with a bachelor of arts in political science, he also holds a master's degree in education with a concentration in learning and teaching from Harvard University, Cambridge, MA.
In announcing the appointment, SLA Executive Director, David R. Bender, Ph.D. remarked, "We are excited to have someone with Jeff's strong background in strategic learning and development directing our learning initiatives. I am confident that Jeff will continue to enhance SLA's continuing education programs and professional learning activities, which are essential components to the Association and the membership."
