Washington, DC USA, January 21, 2004 – The Special Libraries Association has expanded accessibility to its online content by integrating language translation services from WorldLingo (www.worldlingo.com).

Janice R. Lachance, SLA’s Executive Director, hailed the new service as an important step in the Associations’ commitment to growing its global membership. “Offering translation services on the Association’s Web site is a great start to removing barriers to access for our members and the worldwide information professional community. I think Non-English speaking information professionals who have considered joining SLA will be quite pleased to see that we are extending our global touch in new and innovative ways.”
This new service on www.sla.org is intended to provide rudimentary translation. Visitors to the site may also select a professional translation option from WorldLingo. This fee-based service allows visitors to request a quote on professional translation of any page or document found on the SLA Web site. Upon receiving the quote, visitors may choose to purchase or decline. Electronically prepared translations are not available for attached documents (for example, Word or PDF documents), but fee-based professional translations may be obtained.
