Washington, D.C., February 3, 2004 —The Special Libraries Association (SLA), has launched the fourth generation of its Web site. The new online community at www.sla.org features a cleaner, more modern appearance with improved access to resources.
Visitors to the site will see improvements that include redesigned navigation bar and all new menu headings; an enhanced site map and improved search functions, which allows a wider range of search capabilities. The new Web site contains an all-new taxonomy, thesaurus, and content management system for improved organization of content. SLA launched the first version of its Web site in 1996. The Web site was revised in 1997 and redesigned in 2000.
Janice R. Lachance, SLA’s Executive Director, considers the new Web site a great resource for the global information community. “SLA’s new online community provides the information profession with a place to learn, gather, and get connected. The fourth generation Web site marks a shining moment in the Association’s 95-year history and solidifies SLA’s online presence.”
