ASSOCIATION VETERAN JOINS SLA STAFF
Sansalone to Serve as Deputy Executive Director
and Chief Financial Officer
Alexandria, Virginia USA, 10 May, 2005 — Special Libraries Association (SLA) Executive Director Janice R. Lachance today announced that Nancy A Gaffney Sansalone will join the SLA staff as deputy executive director and chief financial officer.
“Nancy is an outstanding addition to SLA’s staff leadership, and I’m looking forward to her working closely by my side,” Lachance said. “She brings a wealth of experience in finance and association management. We believe her knowledge and background will serve our membership well and help us to accomplish our long-term goals.”
Sansalone has 20 years of association management and higher education experience. Just prior to joining SLA, she served as vice president and chief financial officer of the American Association for Higher Education (AAHE). There, she managed the day-to-day operations, administration, and finances of the association. Prior to that, Sansalone worked for 10 years with the Council of Graduate Schools, serving as vice president for finance and administration and treasurer for the council’s board of directors.
Sansalone is past president of NAWE: Advancing Women in Higher Education; past chair of the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders; and past president of the Capitol Association for Women in Education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Northeastern University in Boston. She is working toward an advanced graduate certificate in management from Harvard University.
