SLA AWARDS & HONORS CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
2006 Nomination Process First-Ever Internet-Enabled
Alexandria, Virginia USA, 14 November 2005 — The Special Libraries Association (SLA) has launched its 2006 SLA Awards & Honors Program and is actively seeking nominations for this year’s competition. For the first time in the program’s 58-year history, nominations may be submitted via the Internet using an electronic nomination form.
The SLA Awards & Honors Program was created in 1948 to honor individuals, achievements, and contributions to the Association and the information profession. The competition features 14 distinct categories:
Diversity Leadership Development Program Award* – US$1,000 stipend
Factiva Leadership Award – US$2,000 Cash Prize
Fellow
Hall of Fame
Honorary Member
H.W. Wilson Company Award – US$500 Cash Prize
Innovations in Technology Award sponsored by LexisNexis – US$1,000 Cash Prize
John Cotton Dana Award
Media Award
Member Achievement Award
President’s Award
Professional Award
Rose L. Vormelker Award
Student & Academic Relations Committee (SARC) Merit Awards*
Nominations must be submitted by 4 January 2006.** Winners and honorees are to be announced in February. The Awards & Honors Presentations are scheduled for SLA 2006 in Baltimore, Maryland USA, in June.
Nominations may be submitted by Association members, employers, and colleagues. Eligibility in most categories requires membership, while others seek nomination of deserving non-members.
