SLA SURPASSES PRE-CONFERENCE REGISTRATION GOAL
INFO-EXPO One of Largest in SLA History

Alexandria, Virginia USA, 2 June 2006 ? Pre-registration for the Special Libraries Association (SLA) 2006 Annual Conference in Baltimore has surpassed the association?s goal by nearly 20 percent and the SLA INFO-EXPO, featuring over 300 vendors, will be one of the one of the largest ever, CEO Janice R. Lachance announced today. More than 3,880 people have pre-registered to attend.

?We?re excited to be hosting a conference that?s fresh in its structure and programming, stimulating in terms of its content and scope, and chock-full of networking opportunities for information professionals at every stage of their careers. We?re in a great city, and people know that SLA is the premier conference for the global community of librarians and information professionals,? said Pamela Rollo, president of SLA.

For the second consecutive year, SLA has drawn more than 600 first-time participants to its conference. More than 70 new exhibitors will be featured in the Info-Expo, the largest information and knowledge management exhibition in North America. Open 11 ? 13 June, the Info-Expo will include 305 companies and over 480 booths, making it one of SLA?s largest ever.

?There is palpable excitement about SLA 2006,? observed Lachance. ?We have excellent keynote speakers in Gwen Ifill and Walter Mossberg, and we?re attracting people who have never attended an SLA conference before.?
To date, conference participants and exhibitors represent 31 countries. Official attendance numbers will be finalized and announced on Wednesday, 14 June, the final day of the conference.
