SLA'S CLICK UNIVERSITY OPENS REGISTRATION FOR
COMPETITIVE INTELLIGENCE CERTIFICATES PROGRAM

Courses for Three Different CI Certificates Developed by Knowledge inForm begin on 8 January, 2007

Alexandria, Virginia, USA, 28 November 2006 - The Special Libraries Association (SLA) announces open registration for its members interested in participating in the SLA competitive intelligence (CI) certificates program through Click University, the first and only online learning system for post-graduate information professionals.  Registration for each online course will close on the Friday before the beginning of the class and registration is limited to 50 participants per course.  To ensure participation, interested SLA members are encouraged to register today by visiting www.clickuniversity.com.

The SLA CI certificates program will consist of three different levels of curriculum so that information professionals may choose courses based on their function within their organizations.  The CI certificates program will be appropriate for seasoned CI professionals as well as library and information science (LIS) professionals who are not currently performing a CI function.  A third certificate will be a dual certificate combining the two.

To develop the courses, SLA worked in partnership with Knowledge inForm drawing on the intelligence, research, and training expertise of its principal Cynthia Cheng Correia and other CI experts.

A blended learning approach, combining online modules of knowledge-based training with live hands-on, traditional classroom training, will be incorporated into all three certificates. The first course will begin on 8 January, 2007 and is open to those working towards a CI certificate as well as to those SLA members who wish to take the courses a-la-carte to enhance their professional development and expertise.

The observations, best practices and lessons learned through Knowledge inForm's work conducting intelligence training for LIS and business professionals, as well as through their intelligence consulting practice, informed the material covered in each course. Additionally, the CI certificates incorporate best practices from other professional development programs as well as feedback and trends from the pilot CI certificate course, which was conducted in October 2006.
