Official Rules, Privacy Policy, and Alternative Method of Entry
The SLA and Dialog eReader Sweepstakes ("Sweepstakes") is subject to these Complete and Official Rules ("Official Rules"). No purchase necessary to enter or win. The Sweepstakes is administered by and is the responsibility of Special Libraries Association, 331 South Patrick Street, Alexandria, VA 22314, USA ("SLA"); and is sponsored by Dialog, LLC, 2250 Perimeter Park Drive, Suite 300, Morrisville, NC 27560, USA ("Dialog").
1. Eligibility for Entry: The Sweepstakes is open to anyone who is at least eighteen (18) years old or have reached the age of majority at the Sweepstakes start date and have a working Internet connection. The Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations. Void where prohibited.
2. Disclosure: This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. You are providing your information to the Special Libraries Association and not to Facebook. The information you provide will only be used for administering this sweepstakes and for promotion purposes in accordance with the SLA and Dialog eReader Sweepstakes privacy policy found on both sweepstakes entry pages, locations specified in section 4 of these Official Rules.
3. Sweepstakes Period: Sweepstakes begins at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time ("EDT") on May 5, 2011 and ends at 12:00 a.m. EDT on June 15, 2011.
4. Method of entry into the Sweepstakes: Online Entries Only. There are two ways to enter.
4.1.1. You can enter the Sweepstakes through the "Sweepstakes" application on the Facebook Platform. You can find the application by clicking on the Sweepstakes tab on the Special Libraries Association Page on Facebook. To access this tab and page, you may create a Facebook account at no charge by accessing www.facebook.com and following the instructions to create an account.
4.1.2. Once you have a Facebook account, to enter this Sweepstakes, please access the Dialog, LLC Page on Facebook located at www.facebook.com/dialogLLC and then click on the "Like" button.
4.1.3. Then visit the SLA Page on Facebook located at http://www.facebook.com/slahq and click on the "Like" button. If you have previously "liked" SLA’s Facebook Page or Dialog’s Facebook Page, you may skip steps 4.1.2 and 4.1.3.
4.1.4. Click on the tab in the left-hand margin on SLA’s Page entitled "Sweepstakes." When the Facebook permissions box opens, you must click on "yes" to allow the application to access your information described on the box. You will be required to fill out the form completely, and then click on "submit." By submitting your entry, you will be an "Entrant."
4.2. Alternative Method of Entry: You do not need to enter using a Facebook account. To enter the sweepstakes using the alternative method, please access http://wildfireapp.com/website/6/contests and search for the "SLA and Dialog eReader Sweepstakes." Fill out your entry form completely to enter into the Sweepstakes. All previous and following rules remain in effect for the alternative method of entry.
5. One Entry Per Person: Only one entry per person during the Sweepstakes Period. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of a winner, the winner will be deemed to be the person in whose name the e-mail account governing the e-mail address was opened. SLA reserves the right to disqualify entries in violation of the official rules or for any reason mutually agreed upon by SLA and Dialog. These reasons include but are not limited to: (i) answers including vulgar language; (ii) answers that are deemed as harassing other entrants or any of the sponsor parties; (iii) answers that are deemed to be off-topic as defined by the question and; (iv) answers that are deemed as spam; and (v) answers submitted by a "bot" or entity that is non-human.
6. Prizes: Two (2) NOOK Color eReaders; Approximate Retail Value: $499
If prize notification or any prize is returned as undeliverable, prize will be forfeited and an alternate Selected Entrant may be selected. SLA will not make multiple attempts to contact Selected Entrants.
7. Winner Selection and Notification of Selected Entrant:
On or about June 16th, 2011, two (2) Entrants will be selected at random by a representative of SLA using a computer-generated method from all eligible entries received by June 15th at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time ("Selected Entrant").
Selected Entrants will be notified using the e-mail they provided as Entrants. The failure to respond timely to the notification may result in forfeiture of the prize and, in such case, SLA may randomly select an alternate Selected Entrant from among the remaining eligible entries. An alternate Selected Entrant may be randomly selected from among the remaining eligible entries if a Selected Entrant: (i) cannot be reached; (ii) cannot accept or receive the prize for any reason; (iii) has violated the rules expressed on this page.
Selected Entrants will receive the Prize by mail within approximately eight (8) weeks of the date on which the campaign goes offline, 12:00 a.m., 28 June EDT (exact timing subject to change based upon availability of Prize).
8. General Conditions: By participating, Entrants agree to be unconditionally bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of SLA and Dialog and waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Sweepstakes or these Official Rules. Any portion of the Sweepstakes may be canceled, suspended and/or modified, in whole or in part, if in SLA’s opinion any fraud, technical failure or other factor beyond our control impairs the integrity or functioning of the Sweepstakes. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who is found to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes or the Website, to be acting in violation of these Official Rules, or to be acting in a disruptive manner, or with the intent to disrupt or undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes, or to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other Entrant.
9. Limitations of Liability: If for any reason an entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, the Entrant’s sole remedy is another entry in the same Sweepstakes during the Sweepstakes Period. All Entrants also agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless SLA, Dialog, Facebook, and each of their respective representatives ("Representatives") from and against any claims, damages, disability, attorneys’ fees, and costs of litigation and settlements.
10. Force Majeure: The Representatives shall not be liable for: (i) late, incomplete, lost, unintelligible entries, regardless of the method of transmission; (ii) technical malfunctions, lost connections, disconnections, delays or transmission errors; (iii) data corruption, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to or alteration of entry or other materials; (iv) any printing, typographical, administrative or technological errors in any materials associated with the Sweepstakes. Representatives are not responsible for computer, network, or connection malfunctions, e-mail delivery problems, or interruptions in Entrant’s internet service, and for late or lost notifications. In the event SLA and Dialog is prevented from continuing with the Sweepstakes as contemplated herein by any event beyond its control, including but not limited to fire, earthquake, labor dispute or strike, act of God or public enemy, or any federal, state or local government law, order, or regulation, or other event not reasonably within SLA and Dialog’s control (each a "Force Majeure" event or occurrence), SLA and Dialog shall have the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Sweepstakes. If the Sweepstakes is terminated before the designated end date, SLA will make due effort to select from among the Entrants who have entered the Sweepstakes before the time of its termination.
11. Disputes: Disputes regarding these Official Rules and/or this Sweepstakes will be governed by the internal laws of the State of Virginia. Joint decisions of SLA and Dialog are binding and final.
12. Sweepstakes Results: For Sweepstakes results and/or a copy of these Official Rules, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to "SLA and Dialog eReader Sweepstakes" c/o Special Libraries Association, 331 South Patrick Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 USA. Requests must be received by August 1, 2011.
