Web Pages
The Home Page
The home page or main page is usually the entry point which serves as a link to all other Web pages within your Web site/section. This page typically serves as an index and should contain the following information:
- Contact information including the name of the unit, mailing address, telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address (*)
- A link to the main SLA home page (http://www.sla.org) (*)
- Copyright information (refer to the Footers section) (*)
- Table of contents or list of topics that directs users to subsequent Web pages
- A link to a search tool if the Web site is large or complex. If you wish
to have the contents of your Web pages indexed with the main SLA Web pages
or to include a link to the search tool on the SLA main page, contact the
Webmaster at webmaster@sla.org.
- A link to a "What's New" Web page
- The page URL or Web address
Other Web Pages
All Web pages on the SLA Web site (except home pages which are discussed in the previous section) should contain the following information:
- A link to the main SLA home page (http://www.sla.org) (*)
- Copyright information (see Footers section under Page Layout) (*)
- Date that the Web page was last updated (the date should be presented in the August 12, 1996 format as opposed to 8/12/96, which would be interpreted as December 8, 1996 in Europe) (*)
- A Menu including a link to your home page to simplify navigation through your Web pages
- A link (preferably "mail to") to or name of the person responsible for maintaining the Web page
- The Web page URL or Web address
