Career Disruption Assistance Program
Career Disruption Assistance Program Career Disruption Mentoring
Given the distressed economic condition and its impact on layoffs and library closings, SLA chapters have set up various programs to assist members in this predicament. This Career Disruption Mentoring Portal is based on the Career Disruption Assistance Program set up by the DC Chapter for its members.

If you have experienced career disruption, regardless of the cause, the following have kindly offered to make themselves available for mentoring with you to cope with the distress of being laid off and give you the benefit of their knowledge and experience.

Given the distressed economic condition and its impact on layoffs and library closings, the DC Chapter Board saw a need for action and charged the Employee Committee with setting up a Career Disruption Assistance Program for DC Chapter members.

Initially we created the Career Disruption Mentoring portal of which the list below is the first resource. We have now added the Career Competencies and Employment Portal.

If you have experienced career disruption, regardless of the cause, there is a list of SLA Members have kindly offered to make themselves available for mentoring on the DC Chapter web site, Career Disruption Assistance Program.

We also refer you to other mentoring opportunities on our Mentoring Programs Web page and the DC Chapter's Career Competencies and Employment Portal, which links to other SLA chapter and division career and empolyment resources.

If you have any comments and ideas about this service or would like to be added to the list, please contact John Latham at resources@sla.org, 703-647-4915.

Membership dues renewal discount
SLA has recently added a third tier of dues for full members with incomes of less than US$18,000.  Dues for these members will be US$35. The former member benefit that allowed members who become unemployed a one-time, one-year opportunity to pay dues of US$49 will become unnecessary and has been eliminated.  Members will now be able to pay the lowest dues as long as their income is below US$18,000 regardless of their employment status.
