Information professionals increasingly find themselves managing competitive intelligence activities, projects, and programs--often amidst challenges with resources, staffing, know-how, time, and expectations. Whether as solo practitioners or as a part of information centers, they also confront questions like:  How can we balance the needs and demands of both information users and intelligence users?  How can we manage and satisfy expectations for both?  What are some tools and techniques that can help enhance our efficiency and productivity?  How can we effectively develop intelligence practices within an information service?  This course addresses these questions and presents practical techniques, tools, and concepts that help information professionals understand distinct needs, manage resources and time, and how to create more balance and value in their efforts.  Participants are encouraged to bring their own questions and issues!

*This course satisfies the Competitive Intelligence Certificates (CIC) program's elective requirement. Participants who are not in the CIC program are welcome.

Prerequisite: Participants are encouraged to have a fundamental understanding of competitive intelligence process, functions, and techniques.

Course Level: Intermediate - Concepts beyond the scope of fundamentals for practitioners at all experience levels.

Course Duration/Tuition: Full-day (8 hours)
