How can I apply knowledge management to enhance my organization's competitive intelligence & assets? How do I balance knowledge creation with the need to protect competitive/knowledge assets?
Knowledge management (KM), a vital but often neglected aspect of competitive intelligence, can enhance CI practices and intelligence generation. If not practiced with critical awareness, KM activities can also create vulnerabilities for an organization. In this online course, participants will examine 1) how internal and external knowledge can be better harnessed to generate intelligence 2) techniques and issues in knowledge capture, access, creation, and application for each function of the Intelligence Process/Cycle 3) how KM can be effectively integrated into an organization's intelligence program/system 4) tools that facilitate KM in CI and 5) how to balance KM with your organization's defensive/counterintelligence needs. This course includes an exercise and discussions involving KM practices, conditions, and assets in the intelligence context.
Course Level: Intermediate - Concepts beyond the scope of fundamental for practitioners at all experience levels. Participants should have an understanding of fundamental concepts and practices for both competitive intelligence and knowledge management.
