This onsite course covers the issues necessary to institute enterprise-wide copyright education. Topics covered include:
- ongoing copyright education for librarians
- instituting enterprise-wide copyright education
- being aware of a print or digital copyright issue (i.e., when a red flag should arise)
- sensitizing others in your enterprise about copyright management
- educating senior officials, librarians, employees and the public about copyright principles and issues
- weeding through the complex maze of copyright and focusing on copyright issues relevant to your enterprise
- avoiding unauthorized uses of content by end users
- ensuring copyright information is accessible in your enterprise
- explaining difficult legal concepts in plain English

Course Learning Objectives
At the end of this course, participants will understand the importance of career-long copyright education for themselves, and the issues pertinent to instituting enterprise-wide copyright education. The participant will be able to weed through the complex maze of copyright and focusing on what is relevant in their enterprise, identify a print or digital copyright "red flag" issue, sensitize others in their enterprise about copyright management, and educate senior officials, librarians, employees and the public about copyright principles and issues. The participant will understand how to avoid unauthorized uses of content by end users, ensure copyright information is accessible in his enterprise, and explain difficult legal concepts in plain English. Further, the participant will be able to locate existing tools for copyright education, develop a plan for original tools for copyright education, describe the components in a copyright policy, and formulate a copyright policy for his own enterprise.
Specific Learning Outcomes

- Analyze the complex maze of copyright and focus on relevant copyright issues in one's enterprise.

- Explain the importance of copyright management to senior management, librarians, employees and the public.
- Describe relevant copyright principles and issues to senior management, librarians, employees and the public.

- Propose how to make copyright information accessible in an enterprise.

- Recognize and evaluate existing tools for copyright education.
- Propose relevant original tools for copyright education.

Performance Measure
Course assessment, exercises and discussions will measure and evaluate the degree of understanding that participants achieve during the learning process.
Attendance is required for the entire day-long session to obtain IACET credit and/or satisfy certificate requirement.
Prerequisites
This onsite course is one of seven required courses for SLA's Click University Certificate in Copyright Management: Principles and Issues. CCM100, CCM200 and/or 201, CCM300, CCM400, CCM500 and CCM600 are recommended, but are not required, to be taken before this course; however, participation in this course requires a knowledge of basic copyright management issues and principles (including fair use/dealing).
There are no prerequisites for non-certificate participants, who may take any certificate course(s) à la carte. However, participation in this course requires a basic knowledge of copyright management issues and principles (including fair use/dealing).
