Participants will understand the difference between authorship and ownership, know what rights are protected and owned by whom, and the duration of this protection. They will be aware of the differences between economic and moral rights in copyright law. They will learn how to identify third-party materials, how fair use/dealing works from the author/publisher perspective, and when and how to obtain permissions to use and adapt third-party content.
