Identifying Client Needs

Part II
Using the Findings to Shape Information Provision

March 23
, 2005

Description
When the data about the needs of a client group have been collected and analysed, the work has only just begun!

This seminar discusses the data evaluation and interpretation process and how, once their requirements are identified, recommendations can be made to meet their needs. Using case studies it examines the ways in which the findings of a needs analysis can be used for service planning - including the rationalisation of existing services and defining the development of new products and services. It looks beyond the service you provide and examines how knowing what information is required by specific groups in an organisation (and what they do with it) also can be used to support the development and management of useful intranets and effective technical infrastructure. Changing what you provide to clients and what they have access to can be a difficult process. This seminar also looks how effective communication during the needs assessment process can increase the chances of an effective transition as well as raising the profile of information services.
