| Your Virtual Seminar Leader. Roy Tennant manages Web and services design for eScholarship, an initiative of the California Digital Library. He is the owner of the Web4Lib and XML4Lib electronic discussions, and the creator and editor of Current Sites, a current awareness newsletter published every month since 1990. Roy has also been instrumental in the development of the Simple Web Indexing Software for Humans - Enhanced (SWISH-E) software, and the Internet resource guides Librarians' Index to the Internet, and KidsClick! His latest book is XML in Libraries for Neal-Schuman Publishers, released in August 2002. He has also written Practical HTML: A Self-Paced Tutorial., and co-authored Crossing the Internet Threshold: An Instructional Handbook, with John Ober and Anne Lipow. Description of Seminar XML is quickly becoming an essential tool for libraries to both improve basic services as well as offer new kinds of services. This seminar will introduce XML, cover key concepts and terms, describe the required software infrastructure, and highlight specific library uses.
