Seminar Description
Librarians know that many government entities provide free or low-cost access to public records via the Web. But where do you start when you want to conduct a comprehensive search on a person or company? What's available for free or inexpensively? When should you use a commercial vendor? Can you really conduct a complete and accurate criminal background check online? What should it cost? What sources are useful for finding information on private companies? This program will explore the answers to these questions and more. It will provide experienced searchers with source suggestions, tips learned from private investigators, and research strategies.
Who Should Attend?
This seminar targets librarians, researchers, journalists and other professionals who need information about people or private companies. It will cover both basic and advanced techniques, but the focus will be on research strategies as well as free and low-cost resources.
