An organization's ability to create, share and capitalize on its knowledge is essential for success in the New Economy. Leadership, strategy and innovation all depend heavily on the free flow of knowledge throughout the firm. Information professionals are well-positioned to serve as the "knowledge champions" that today's organizations need to help create and support knowledge sharing systems. The Knowledge Champions Institute (KCI) will prepare information professionals for this critical role, and will help participants link their knowledge initiatives to the strategic directions of their organizations.
Our Faculty Leader
SLA’s Strategic Learning and Development Center is delighted to be collaborating with Dr. Nancy Dixon—teacher, author, consultant, expert in organizational knowledge, and also faculty director for SLA's Knowledge Champions Institute (KCI).
In addition to being the author of KCI’s primary text, Common Knowledge: How Companies Thrive by Sharing What They Know (published by Harvard Business School Press), Nancy is also professor of administrative sciences at The George Washington University in Washington, DC. She was a member of the human resource development graduate faculty at The University of Texas, Austin and has consulted with numerous companies in the U.S. and abroad including Conoco, Lockheed-Martin, Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Other KCI faculty include Seth Kahan of the World Bank, Cheryl Lamb of Buckman Laboratories, and Ann Noles of Capital One.
