SLA's Consultation Officers Assist in Defining Your Information Requirements.
Consultation Service PowerPoint presentation
Many corporations, small businesses, non-profit organizations and associations employ librarians/information professionals. These organizations have found that special librarians who organize, evaluate and deliver information do make a positive difference in the bottom line.
The Special Libraries Association offers a Consultation Service to help you define your organization's information requirements.
SLA's network of regional chapters in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia and the Arabian Gulf offer consultation help. SLA's information professionals work daily with the latest technology. They use information to solve problems in their own companies. The Chapter Consultation Officer knows your community, other professionals, and the sources, services, methods and systems of information handling.
On-Site Service
The Officer will meet with you on-site to discuss your information needs. A confidential meeting of up to one-half day is provided free of charge as a professional courtesy.
Although SLA Consultation Officers cannot plan libraries or develop complete plans for an information policy in a couple of hours, they are experts at addressing the strategic issues necessary in establishing a library/information center. They can steer you toward practical, cost effective solutions. The Officer will discuss and evaluate your situation with you. If necessary, the Officer will refer you to private consultant sources at the end of the initial free service, including SLA members who are listed in CONSULT Online. To arrange for SLA's Consultation Service, use the Information Center Information Request Form, giving the name of the SLA Chapter nearest you.
